Healthy food to eat before a morning lecture.

We being students, mostly we attend morning lectures on an empty stomach which is not good for our health. One would ask, what food would be perfect in the morning before lectures?

Here is the best food you can eat in the morning and also prepare it quickly before your lecture. Oats is here to solve your problems.

Why oats? Someone may ask. Oats because there are a lot of benefits we get from it. Oats are among the healthiest grains on earth.

They’re a gluten free whole grain and a great source of important vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants.

Now come to think of vitamins, minerals and fiber, what does these micronutrients does to our body?

Benefits of a high-fiber diet

A high-fiber diet:

  • Normalizes bowel movements. Dietary fiber increases the weight and size of your stool and softens it. A bulky stool is easier to pass, decreasing your chance of constipation. If you have loose, watery stools, fiber may help to solidify the stool because it absorbs water and adds bulk to stool.
  • Helps maintain bowel health. A high-fiber diet may lower your risk of developing hemorrhoids and small pouches in your colon (diverticular disease). Studies have also found that a high-fiber diet likely lowers the risk of colorectal cancer. Some fiber is fermented in the colon. Researchers are looking at how this may play a role in preventing diseases of the colon.
  • Lowers cholesterol levels. Soluble fiber found in beans, oats, flaxseed and oat bran may help lower total blood cholesterol levels by lowering low-density lipoprotein, or “bad,” cholesterol levels. Studies also have shown that high-fiber foods may have other heart-health benefits, such as reducing blood pressure and inflammation.

LEMONS🍋

When life gives you lemons … you’re in luck. Lemons are full of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants. They are especially good sources of vitamin C.

Health and wellness influencers have long been singing the praises of a warm cup of lemon water to ‘detoxify’ your liver and kick start weight loss.

Lemons are available throughout the year. They are an extremely versatile fruit. You can eat them in slices, sip healthy lemon water, make lemonade, garnish food with them, candy their peels, and use their juice and peels in cooking and more.

BENEFITS OF LEMONS🍋

  • It is a great source of vitamin C
  • It helps prevent Kidney stones
  • It aids in weight loss
  • It gives your skin the perfect glow
  • It freshens your breath
  • It aids in digestion, just to mention a few.

But let’s be realistic here. We all know that too much of everything is bad. Therefore, too much intake of lemon water is harmful to the health of an individual.

Too much lemon intake can cause;

  • stomach ulcer
  • trigger the urge to vomit
  • cause nausea
  • decay the tooth enamel, just to mention few.

THE RIGHT WAY TO DRINK LEMON WATER

  • To make the drink as healthy as possible, use organic lemons.
  • Drink lemon water quickly rather than sipping it.
  • If you want to sip, use a straw to minimize contact with your teeth.
  • Rinse your mouth after you’re done drinking.
  • Make sure to either brush your teeth before drinking the lemon water or 120 minutes after drinking to allow calcium in your saliva to re-mineralize your teeth.

HAVE IT YOUR WAY

Infuse more flavor or add a health boost to lemon water by adding slices of other fresh citrus fruits such as limes and oranges, or cucumber slices. You can also add raspberries and strawberries to your lemonade.

Having lemon ice cubes on hand is a great way to add lemon to your water fast. Same applies to the other fruit flavours you will to infuse into your lemonade.

Simply squeeze fresh lemon juice into ice cube trays and freeze. Drop a few cubes into a glass of cold or hot water as needed.

DETOX

Detoxing is something your body does each and every day and your liver is a huge component in doing this. The liver has many important functions in the body, all of which are vital to functioning properly.

WHY DETOX?

The school of thought for detoxing is that the liver is responsible for that, so why do we need to detox?? Detoxing is like an energy booster that helps the liver in working better.

Well here’s what you need to know 😊

Fiber and probiotics help in digestion, and when we take more junk food we often supplement with more fibrous foods and probiotics(healthy bacteria such as Greek yogurt) to help our bodies with the digestion process so it can be running efficiently.

Your body of course will digest without these things, but in aiding in the digestive process, your body is better able to do its job.

The same holds true for detoxing. With all of the toxins your body is exposed to on a daily basis, your liver could use the help!

DAILY TOXINS

Toxins are flooding into our environment from all around us every single day. Car emissions, sprayed chemicals that make their way into our air, all enter into our bodies when we breathe.

We can also pick it up in our water, as it is subject to dumping, acid rain, and other leakage of unnatural chemicals that get flushed down the drain.

What a bummer !

The products used at home, like air refreshers and cleaning products all contain chemicals that are toxic.

Not forgetting hair and beauty products – face wash, body soap, shaving cream, make up, contact solution, nail polish remover, lotion, perfume, after shave, acne cream, night creme, shampoo, deodorant.

The production of health and beauty products is very loosely regulated with many controversial chemicals being used widely throughout the industry.

DID YOU KNOW? 💡

A 2005 study (conducted by the Environmental Working Group and the Red Cross) looked at the umbilical cords of newborns and it showed that the average infant is being born with over 200 industrial chemicals and unnatural compounds in their blood!!

THE BLOOD TYPE DIET

Have you ever thought about blood group diet? Well, blood group diet is a type of diet that is based on the blood group of a person.

Apparently, there are particular foods that people within a particular blood group should consume as is suggested by a naturopath. The naturopath, D’Adamo, claims that a blood group diet can help a person lead a healthy life.

A diet that is designed depending on the blood group has several benefits. It can help a person lose weight, gain more energy and stay free from diseases. This type of diet also facilitates digestion. Here is all you need to know about blood group diet.

Blood group diet notably, there are four types of blood groups which include O, A, B and AB. For each type of this diet, D’Adamo recommends that the diet should comprise of the following;

Could eating a diet based on your blood type — O, A, B, or AB — help you trim down and get healthier? That’s the idea behind the Blood Type Diet, created by naturopath Peter J. D’Adamo. D’Adamo claims that the foods you eat react chemically with your blood type. If you follow a diet designed for your blood type, your body will digest food more efficiently. You’ll lose weight, have more energy, and help prevent diseases that depends on your blood type. Here’s what D’Adamo recommends for each type:

A video of blood groups and what to by: Dr.Peter .J.D’Adamon.

Type O blood: A high-protein diet heavy on lean meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables, and light on grains, beans, and dairy. D’Adamo also recommends various supplements to help with tummy troubles and other issues he says people with type O tend to have.

Type A blood: A meat-free diet based on fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, and whole grains — ideally, organic and fresh, because D’Adamo says people with type A blood have a sensitive immune system.

Type B blood: Avoid corn, wheat, buckwheat, lentils, tomatoes, peanuts, and sesame seeds. Chicken is also problematic, D’Adamo says. He encourages eating green vegetables, eggs, certain meats, and low-fat dairy.

Type AB blood: Foods to focus on include tofu, seafood, dairy, and green vegetables. He says people with type AB blood tend to have lowstomach acid. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoked or cured meats.

Level of Effort: if you don’t already know your blood type, you’ll need to find that out. The results will determine exactly what you need to do.

The Blood Type Diet recommends exercises based on your blood type. For instance, it suggests yoga or tai chi for type As, and vigorous aerobic exercises like jogging or biking for up to an hour a day for type Os.

Because the diet dictates that you eat very specific types of food based on your blood type, it doesn’t allow much for personal tastes.

There are even recommendations about the types of spices and condiments you can use.

If you’re looking for a diet that’s gluten-free, you should know that this diet doesn’t ban gluten. You may be able to make choices that are gluten-free, if you read food labels carefully.

What Else You Should KnowCost: D’Adamo recommends a lot of specialty and organic foods (such as soy milk and carob chip cookies), which can be pricey. Vitamin and herbal supplements are also part of the diet.

Does It Work? One study found that adults eating the type A diet showed improved health markers, but this occurred in everyone, not just those with type A blood type.

In 2013, a major review concluded that no evidence exists to support benefits of blood type diets. It’s likely that you would lose weight, though, because the diet can be very restrictive. Is It Good for Certain Conditions?

The Blood Type Diet makes recommendations based solely on your blood type. So, if you have a chronic condition (say, diabetes), you may be told to eat high protein, while another person withdiabetes may have to avoid dairy or chicken. This may conflict with your diabetes treatmentplan.

Also, everyone should aim for 150 minutes of aerobic exercise per week and at least 2 days ofstrength training per week.

JUICING

Do you want to boost your immune system, loose weight or revitalise your body? Then juicing may be the best for you.

WHAT IS JUICING?

Juicing is the process of extracting juice from fruits and vegetables.

A fruit is a sweet and fleshy product of a tree that contains seed and can be eaten as food. Examples of fruits are banana, apples, just to mention a few.

A vegetable is a plant or a part of a plant used as food. Examples of vegetables are cabbage, lettuce, just to mention a few.

When fruits and vegetables are juiced, indigestible fibre is removed. Indigestible fibre are fruit and vegetable fibres that are difficult to digest.

Fruits and vegetable juices are good sources of traditional nutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E, just to mention a few.

Citrus fruits such as grapefruit and orange provide healthy portions of vitamin C.

Carrot juice contain large quantities of vitamin A in the form of Beta Carotene. Beta Carotene is an organic, strongly coloured red-orange pigment abundant in some plants and fruits. It is a precursor of Vitamin A. Carrot juices also protects the skin from harsh weather conditions. It also makes the skin look beautiful and keeps it healthy.

Let us note that, not only carrot juices gives the skin a beautiful look. Other juices such as apple juices and lemon juices also contribute to a beautiful and a healthy skin.

Fruit and Vegetable juices also serves as a detoxifying agent for the body. Juices are generally alkaline in nature. They draw out acids in the body and the toxins are released via the elimination channel of the body, that is, through the sweat gland and the lungs.

Fruits and vegetable juices also boosts the immune system.

Below is a video of how some juices are made.

Fruits and vegetables can be made into smoothies too. A smoothie is a thick blended beverage with shake like consistency, normally pureed in a blender containing fruits and or vegetables as well as an added liquid such as fruit juice or vegetable juice, milk or even yogurt.

Unlike fruit or vegetable juice which are generally light, smoothies are thick. Smoothies come in types and categories , some are: fruit smoothies, green smoothies ,healthy smoothies, weight loss smoothies ,dessert smoothies.

Below is a video of how some smoothies are prepared

They also provide one more substance that is essential for good health-Water.

Water is absolutely essential for good health. The human body is made up of about 60-65% of water. Its quite unfortunate that a lot of people do not consume a lot of water. Some fear they’ll have to visit the washroom too often.

Many of the unhealthy fluids we drink such as soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and artificially flavoured drinks each contain substances that require more water for your body to flush them out.

Fruit and vegetable juices are free of these unneeded substances and are full of pure and clean water.

They can prevent a wide range of ailments such cardiovascular diseases, cancer and various inflammatory diseases.

So instead of drinking all these unhealthy drinks, get yourself some fresh healthy juice.
